AP Government & Economics
Welcome to AP Government! I am very excited to have you in my class this year!
Personal Philosophy Teaching government matters!!! Government is one of my favorite subjects, and in my opinion one of the most important classes you will take in high school. My goal is for students to leave this class as interested and informed citizens who want to become activity involved in today’s political system. In order for a democracy to work we need informed and involved citizens. We will examine this content through the news every day and supplemental video clips. In order to prepare you for the AP Exam in May, I believe it is important to expose yourself to the format of the AP test, so that when it comes to test day you'll be prepared. Because of this every test we take in this class will mimic the format of the actual AP test. On the AP Exam you will be given 45 minutes to answer 60 questions. In my class you will be exposed to the same format so that you become accustomed to answering multiple choice questions in the time given. On each in class exam you will also be asked to write one free response question. On the AP Exam you will be asked to write four free response questions in an hour and forty minutes (which is more than enough time to write :D). We will also examine the course material through simulations, debates, video clips, discussion and short essays. AP Government & Economics Syllabus Required Materials
